Kirk Munro

| | I am an award-winning artist based near Winton. Working mainly in oils, I specialise in mid to large scale paintings ranging from the dense bush and dramatic mountains of Fiordland National Park, to bright and colourful impressionistic florals, covering a wide selection of subjects and styles. The strong demand for works on commission has limited the supply of paintings to Galleries for the last few years, but has increased my ability to work with different techniques and styles to suit each new clients requirements. It also ensures plenty of fresh challenges in each day's work, though the bulk of requests still centre around the stunning scenery of South Island. A key element in my paintings is the fact that all scenes are real places, not invented or exaggerated. I prefer to give a truthful reprsentation of the places I go to, and tend to use light and composition to enhance the viewers ability to get not only the 'look' of a scene, but hopefully the 'feel' of a place as well, an aspect most appreciated by those lucky enough to have been there. |
